Giants blame beds for back injuries
The New York Giants may be the defending Super Bowl champions, but they sure aren’t sleeping well.
Multiple players from the team have suffered back injuries during the course of their preseason preparations, and some are blaming the dorm room beds at the University of Albany, where the team is currently holding training camp.
According to the Newark Star-Ledger, multiple players complained about the size and stiffness of the beds at the camp. The complaint could be taken as an example of how spoiled professional athletes have become, but there are real, certifiable injuries to back up these claims.
Defensive back Terrell Thomas, defensive tackle Martin Parker, and offensive tackles Will Beatty and James Brewer have all missed practice time with back-related ailments. Even Linval Joseph, who has managed to steer clear of the back bug, thinks the beds are to blame.
“Everybody’s been complaining about their back because the beds in the dorms are fairly hard,” said Linval Joseph, one of the few defensive tackles who is still healthy. “My back’s been hurting, too. Like I said, I think it’s just the bed.”
Asked pointedly if he believes the mattresses are to blame for all of the back issues, Joseph replied, “Yes, I really do.”
