Will Middlebrooks injury: Red Sox third baseman hit by a pitch on right wrist

MLB

Boston Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks, arguably the brightest light in another disappointing season in Beantown, left Friday’s game against the Cleveland Indians after being hit on the right wrist by a 96-mph Esmil Rogers fastball in the top of the ninth inning.

Middlebrooks was going to be X-rayed after the game, and from what manager Bobby Valentine told the media, the prognosis may not be good.

Since being called up in May, the Texas native has hit .288 with 15 home runs and 54 RBIs in 75 games, with a .835 OPS.
