Major League Baseball announced its 2012 postseason schedule on Thursday, and the playoffs will begin with the extra wild card games on October 5 (both on TBS).
The regular season ends on October 3, with October 4 reserved for any one-game playoffs that may be needed to break ties in the standings.
Two of the best-of-five Division Series will begin on October 6, with the other two presumably beginning a day later. The Division Series round will wrap up on October 12. TBS will televise up to 18 of the possible 20 games, with MLB Network getting the other two.
The American League Championship Series, on TBS, will start on Saturday, October 13, with a potential Game 7 eight days later on October 21.
The National League Championship Series, on Fox, will run from Sunday, October 14, to Monday, October 22.
The World Series, on Fox, will open in the NL champion’s home park on Wednesday, October 24, with a potential Game 7 scheduled for November 1.
