Report: Penn State’s Silas Redd leaning toward transfer to USC

Joe Schad (@schadjoe) July 30, 2012Redd, widely considered the best player on the Penn State roster, has been linked to USC since the NCAA handed down harsh sanctions on Penn State. Along with the penalty, though, Penn State players were given the option to transfer without sitting out.
Although some expected a mass exodus, the Nittany Lions have held their team together. But Redd reportedly visited with USC coach Lane Kiffin on Thursday and spent the weekend with the Trojans. That has led to speculation that he may consider leaving Penn State’s bowl ban behind to compete for a national championship.
USC, with a Heisman candidate at quarterback in Matt Barkley and a pair of dangerous receivers in Robert Woods and Marqise Lee, would become more dangerous with Redd in the backfield.
Redd rushed for 1,241 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore last season with Penn State.
