Report: Angels acquire Zack Greinke from Brewers for three prospects

Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com report on Twitter that the Los Angeles Angels have acquired righthander Zack Greinke from the Milwaukee Brewers.

Several other prominent national baseball writers have confirmed the deal on Twitter.

The Angels need help in their rotation because of the ongoing struggles of RHPs Dan Haren and Ervin Santana. Greinke, the 2009 AL Cy Young Award winner with the Kansas City Royals, is 9-3 with a 3.44 ERA this season.

Segura, 22, just made his major-league debut on Tuesday. The shortstop is ranked as the Angels’ top prospect and the No. 45 prospect in all of baseball by MLB.com. Here’s his profile by MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo.

Pena, 23, is a righthanded reliever who was touted by the Los Angeles Times as possibly “the new K-Rod.” MLB.com ranked him as the Angels’ No. 14 prospect.

Hellweg, 23, is a 6’9″ righthanded flamethrower ranked as the Angels’ seventh-best prospect by MLB.com. He has shuttled between the rotation and the bullpen.

Baseball America ranked Segura, Hellweg and Pena as the organization’s second-, fourth- and ninth-best prospects.
