For some reason, there was a heavy security force to watch a quarterback throw to receivers in a controlled environment.
According to the New York Post, New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez ‘Jets West’ passing camp at Mission Viejo High School in California was not only attended by Jets receivers and backup quarterback Tim Tebow, but also five Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies, including one with a shotgun and plainclothes officers at the entrances.
“Mark just wanted to keep the distractions out,” tight end Dustin Keller said. “After what happened last year [an 8-8 finish and home for the playoffs], he wants all of us totally focused on football and the job at hand. [No media allowed] is not what we’re used to back in New York, but it makes sense here.”
At the end of the day, Sanchez had nothing to worry about because the officers outnumbered the spectators who were not on the invite list.
