Adrian Peterson quotes Winston Churchill in reponse to arrest reports

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has taken to Twitter and quoted from history following reports of his arrest early Saturday morning.

“A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.”

The “WC” at the end of the tweet is an attribution to Winston Churchill, the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister during World War II (and again for another stint in the 1950s). Peterson continued using his own words in a subsequent tweet:

Peterson was reported to have been the instigator in an altercation with police officers at a Houston night club in the early hours of Saturday morning. Video of Peterson’s arrest was released by TMZ earlier today:
