Report: Brandon Roy will make his comeback attempt with Timberwolves

The Minnesota Wild aren’t the only pro team in the Land of 10,000 Lakes to make a big splash this week. Not to be outdone, their NBA brethren, the Timberwolves, appear to have reached an agreement with former Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Brandon Roy, who retired last December because of a degenerative knee condition.

Roy isn’t a sure thing because of his knee, but the interest shown in him by several teams suggests that he can still be a productive NBA player.

The T-Wolves also are rumored to be in the hunt for another Trail Blazer, restricted free agent forward Nicolas Batum [UPDATE: The AP reports that the two sides have agreed to a deal], although new Portland general manager Neil Olshey on Thursday told Batum that the Blazers would match any offer.

Agent Greg Lawrence tells Quick that the money is actually in the “ballpark” of $10.4 million.
