Dodgers place RF Andre Ethier on disabled list, activate 2B Mark Ellis

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed rightfielder Andre Ethier on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with a strained left oblique. The move is retroactive to June 28.
Ethier, who is hitting .291 with 10 home runs and 55 RBIs and who signed a five-year, $85 million extension on June 12, originally suffered the injury last Wednesday and had missed the previous six games. Now he will be out until after the All-Star break.
The Dodgers are also without centerfielder Matt Kemp, who has been out since the end of May after reinjuring his left hamstring.
Taking Ethier’s spot on the active roster is second baseman Mark Ellis, who had not played since May 19 after suffering a leg injury.
