Free agent Deron Williams appears to announce his return to Nets on Twitter
Deron Williams’ decision sent out the following tweet shortly after 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday night:
The link goes to the new Brooklyn Nets logo, an apparent indication that Williams has decided to rebuff the advances of his hometown Dallas Mavericks and re-sign with the Nets. He can ink a five-year, $98 million deal on July 11. (Dallas could only offer four years and $75 million.)
Brooklyn, of course, acquired former All-Star Joe Johnson on Monday, giving the team one of the biggest and strongest backcourts in the league. The club also re-signed forward Gerald Wallace. Those moves no doubt impressed upon Williams that the Nets are serious about getting better.
D-Will may also have taken notice of the renewed reports that Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has eyes only for Brooklyn.
