Report: Nets, Hawks close to Joe Johnson trade

The Brooklyn Nets are close to giving Deron Williams another reason to re-sign … or a reason to leave. Adiran Wojnarowski of Yahoo! sports reports in a tweet that The Nets and Atlanta Hawks are close to a deal that would send Joe Johnson to Brooklyn, and that a decision should be reached at some point today.

The Nets could use Johnson as an effective backcourt partner for Williams should the point guard elect to stay in New York City, or as a building block should Williams sign with his hometown Dallas Mavericks.
