Thunder offer contract extension to coach Scott Brooks; sides far apart on salary
The Oklahoma City Thunder have offered an extension for a fourth-year to head coach Scott Brooks, but they are not close to a deal because of big differences on salary, Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
According to the website, Brooks was offered a three-year extension worth $11 million. Brooks made $2.1 million this season in the final year of his deal. Brooks contract expires on June 30, and sources say he could become a candidate for the Portland Trail Blazers’ job.
Brooks, 46, finished his fourth season as coach of the Thunder, leading them to their first-ever NBA Finals appearance this past season. The Thunder lost in five games to the Miami Heat. He has a career record of 299-174.
