Kings sign goalie Jonathan Quick to 10-year extension

The Los Angeles Kings, fresh off their Stanley Cup winning pounding of the New Jersey Devils, have locked up goalie Jonathan Quick to a long-term deal.

The team announced the contract extension is for 10 years. The deal can’t be signed until July 1, per the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement. Terms were not disclosed.

”We are very happy to have a long-term agreement in place with one of our top young players,” Kings general manager Dean Lombardi said. ”At this point, we would prefer to withhold further comment until on or around July 1.”

Quick, 26, who had one year left on his contract, won the Conn Smythe Trophy for his stellar goaltending in the playoffs. Quick won 16 of his 20 postseason games, led all goaltenders with a 1.41 goals-against average, and had a .946 save percentage.
