Commissioner David Stern: NBA will take a hard look at flopping
In his press conference before Game 1 of the NBA Finals, commissioner David Stern acknowledged that the league’s Competition Committee will examine the issue of players’ flopping to draw offensive fouls when it meets next week.
From Royce Young of CBSSports.com:
David Stern on flopping: "I think, I KNOW that's something the Competition Committee will look at."—

Courtesy Rachel Nichols of ESPN, Stern used pretty harsh language to characterize the practice:
David Stern press conference; Stern on a key issue on his agenda: "Flopping almost doesn't do it justice – how about trickery, deceit"—

That makes it sound as if the commish will push for some sort of penalty for the offenders, doesn’t it? Although it doesn’t address how the league or the game officials will be able to prove intent.
