The National Football League will soon tell its players, executives, and team employees to be vigilant about cautioning everyone concerning DUI offenses and that it is a dangerous time of the season for those offenses, reports CBSSports.com.

It is not known if the league will start to punish players who do not adhere to the policy. Three players in the last month have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

“This is the time when we need to be very careful when guys break mini-camps and incidents tend to spike,” said one person familiar with the NFL’s thinking told the website. “We want to make sure everyone understands that. Not just players but everyone.”

The league had a safe rides program for players, but the players union changed to a different company and did not communicate that service with its players. The union eventually dropped the program.
