Beatles legend Paul McCartney said Monday that he will be the final act of the opening ceremony at the London Olympics this summer, the Associated Press reports.
McCartney was expected by many to take a prominent role during some part of the Games, and his announcement verifies that he will take a key slot on the Olympics’ opening night.
The opening is being coordinated by “Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle, the AP reports. The acts had been a secret until McCartney confirmed his participation.
The Games start on July 27 and last until Aug. 12.
