The Houston Astros have reportedly settled on who they will select with the top pick in tomorrow’s MLB first-year player draft.

A native of Houston, the 6’5″ Appel has gone 10-1 with a 2.27 ERA as a starter this season with the Stanford Cardinal. He was named a first-team All-American before the start of the 2012 season. Appel most recently struck out 11 in Stanford’s 9-1 rout of Fresno State in the NCAA regional tournament. Appel pitched the entire game, the fifth time he has done so this season.
