Brewers’ Nyjer Morgan ends MLB-record RBI drought with solo home run

By hitting a one-out solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Nyjer Morgan drove in his first run in 138 plate appearances, to end his MLB-record drought. Morgan had not driven in a run since Game 5 of the NLDS last October.
After falling behind 0-2 to Pittsburgh Pirates righthander Kevin Correia, Morgan drove a 2-2 slider to right field to break the ice in both the HR and RBI categories this season.
Here's a stat: Nyjer Morgan went a record 138 plate appearances without an RBI. Former record was 131, held by Herb Adams of 1950 White Sox.—

Morgan also set another dubious record during his skid.
Nyjer Morgan is in the books: 120 at bats to start a season without an RBI are a new major league record for a non-pitcher. #nats—

Morgan has played in 46 of the Brewers 52 games this season, and was hitting a lowly .226 entering Friday’s action.
