MLB-record four straight home runs for Rockies’ Carlos Gonzalez

Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez tied a major league record on Thursday by homering in the first inning of his team’s game against the Houston Astros, for his fourth home run in four consecutive plate appearances, dating back to his three-HR effort on Wednesday.

It was the 22nd time that feat has been accomplished in major league history, and the 38th time that a player has homered in four straight at-bats (which takes walks into account). Albert Pujols was the last player to home in four straight at-bats, in 2006 with the St. Louis Cardinals.

In the second inning, Gonzalez took two balls from Astros starter Bud Norris and then was intentionally walked.
