Derek Fisher will turn 38 this year and is in the twilight of his career. Still, according to a tweet from the Oklahoman’s Darnell Mayberry, Fisher plans to stick around the NBA for a little bit longer.
Derek Fisher, who will turn 38 in August, tells me he plans on continuing his career beyond this season. No plans to retire.—

A five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, Fisher was traded to the Houston Rockets earlier this season in exchange for forward Jordan Hill. The Rockets then waived Fisher, who subsequently signed for the Thunder. Fisher has helped the Thunder to the Western Conference Finals as the backup to starting point guard Russel Westbrook, and has been praised for his role as a veteran presence on an otherwise young team.
