The Oklahoma City Thunder’s run to the Western Conference finals have people in their home state excited, including psychedelic pop band The Flaming Lips.

The band, originally from Norman, OK, has re-recorded parts of the song “Race For The Prize” off their 1999 LP The Soft Bulletin. The changes include new lyrics submitted by fans, and a new shout-a-long chorus involving the phrase “Thunder up!”

Flaming Lips fan blog The Future Heart posted the news on their Facebook page yesterday, along with a video of the new recording set to clips of the Thunder’s run to the playoffs.

“Race For The Prize” was the first single released off The Soft Bulletin, with album and song receiving widespread critical praise upon release. The Thunder lost the first game of their best-of-seven series against the San Antonio Spurs last night by a score of 101-98.
