Dustin Pedroia leaves Red Sox game vs. Tigers with jammed thumb
Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia left today’s game against the Detroit Tigers before the sixth inning with a jammed thumb, according to a tweet from WEEI’s Alex Speier.
Pedroia injured the thumb in the process of making a diving play to gather a grounder from the Tigers’ Danny Worth. Pedroia was able to throw Worth out on the play, but was replaced at second base by Nick Punto at the top of the sixth inning.
Pedroia is hitting .295 this year with five home runs, 21 RBI and three steals.
