Blake Griffin has admitted that he was seriously limited by a sprained left knee during the Los Angeles Clippers’ Game 7 win yesterday over the Memphis Grizzlies, reports Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times.
The Clips beat the Grizz, 82-72, on the road to close out the series and advance to face the San Antonio Spurs in round two. But while his teammates closed things out in crunch time, Griffin was largely watching from the bench; Kenyon Martin and Reggie Evans were manning the paint for L.A. Griffin played just 1:39 in the fourth quarter.
“There just were movements I couldn’t do and I wanted to do,” Griffin said. “And I don’t want to ever put my teammates in a situation where I feel like I’m hurting them, where physically I can’t do what I need to do.”
Griffin played only 28 minutes in the Clippers’ win; he turned in a final stat line of eight points, four rebounds and two blocks.
He has no time to rest now — the Clips visit the Spurs for Game 1 tomorrow night.
