Report: Redskins Release Backup QB John Beck
The Washington Redskins turned a few heads this weekend when they selected two quarterbacks in the same draft this weekend — and inevitably, that meant someone was on the way out. The Redskins are indeed releasing QB John Beck, reports Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network.

After drafting Baylor’s Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III with the No. 2 overall pick in the draft on Thursday night, the Skins surprisingly doubled up on QBs by taking Kirk Cousins, a former Michigan State Spartan, in round four. After the two rookies and Rex Grossman, who started for most of the 2011 season, Beck was the odd man out.
Beck, the Miami Dolphins’ second-round pick in the 2007 draft, never won a game as the Redskins’ starter. He completed 80 of 132 passes last season, with four interceptions and only two touchdowns, as the Skins went 0-3.
