Kevin Johnson: Sacramento And Kings Franchise Unable To Agree On Stadium Deal

NBA

The Sacramento Kings arena deal is dead, according to the Sacramento Bee.

“We know this door is closed,” Sacramento Mayor and former NBA All-Star Kevin Johnson said.

City officials and the Kings owners met for two days in an attempt to reach a financing plan for a downtown sports arena that would allow the club to stay in the city. Johnson however said it was clear that there were “irreconcilable” differences.

The Maloof family, owners of the Kings, would not agree to a 30-year commitment to the city of Sacramento, according to Johnson.
