The Green Bay Packers will release offensive tackle Chad Clifton today, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Along with receiving workout bonuses by completing voluntary workouts, Clifton was also scheduled to make $5.7 million against the Packers’ cap this year.

Clifton, 35, began the 2011 season as the NFL’s oldest starting left tackle.  Due to back and hamstring injuries, he was limited to just six games last season.
