Ex-Boston Manager Terry Francona Will Attend Fenway Ceremony
Former Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona has changed his mind and will attend Friday’s celebration at Fenway Park commemorating the field’s opening 100 years ago, according to the Boston Globe.
Francona had earlier turned down the invitation. He and the team parted ways under contentious circumstances.
The ceremony will take place before Friday’s game with the New York Yankees, with several former players and coaches in attendance. Francona is expected to be introduced to the crowd.
“I think the fans will give him a good reception,” Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury told the paper. ”It’ll be a good day for Boston sports.”
