Report: Timberwolves’ Ricky Rubio Unsure About Returning For Training Camp
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio had reconstructive surgery on March 21 to repair a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee, and now he says he’s unsure about returning for training camp in September, according to the Associated Press.
“I don’t know when I’m going to come back,” Rubio said. “The first thing that I want to make sure is when I come back I’m 100 percent. I don’t want to put a date on it, because it depends on how my knee feels.”
Rubio averaged 10.6 points and 8.2 assists per game for the Wolves in his rookie season, leading them into contention for a Western Conference playoff berth. They’ve since fallen out of the running, going 4-13 in his absence.
The former No. 5 overall draft pick is dying to get back out there.
“You just have to be strong and do your best to try to come back even harder,” Rubio said. “I love basketball. I love playing basketball, and I’m going to do my best to play again.”
