Jorge Posada Will Throw Out First Pitch At Yankees’ Home Opener

Former New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Friday in Yankee Stadium, according to a tweet from the team’s official Twitter account.

Posada retired from baseball at the end of last season with a heartfelt goodbye to the organization who he thanked God for being a part of. He had spent 17 years with the Yankees, the entirety of his MLB career. During his time in the league he was a five-time All-Star, four-time World Series champion, and five-time Silver Slugger Award winner.

Last season he hit .235, had 14 homeruns and 44 RBI’s serving mostly as a designated hitter. He has a career average of .273 with 275 homeruns and 1065 RBIs.
