Injured New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin said today that his knee his progressing well, but he still doesn’t expect to be ready for the first round of the playoffs.

“I think unless something goes really well, I wouldn’t get there,” Lin told Ian Begley of ESPN New York.

Lin underwent surgery Monday to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. Rehab has gone well — Lin has already begun walking and riding a bike this week, and he hopes to have a full range of motion soon. Lin hopes to resume running next week.

“All the doctors are saying this is normal,” Lin said. “After about one and a half to two weeks is when you can see how well you’re doing.”

Lin averaged an impressive 14.6 points, 6.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game for the Knicks this season, but the team is doing just fine without him. New York stunned Chicago today in Derrick Rose’s return to action, winning 100-99 in overtime behind 43 points from Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks are now 29-27, one game up on Milwaukee for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
