Former Lion Charles Rogers Turns Himself In, Pleads Not Guilty To Five Misdemeanors

Charles Rogers, former wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, turned himself in yesterday afternoon in Michigan on two warrants seeking his arrest, reports Andy Hoag of MLive.com.

Rogers is charged with five misdemeanors, including making a malicious phone call and conspiring to commit that crime. He is also accused of possessing marijuana, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license.

Rogers, 30, appeared before Saginaw County District Judge A.T. Frank about 4:30 p.m. yesterday and pleaded not guilty to all five charges. Outside the courtroom, he had “no comment” regarding the charges.

The Michgan lifer was a standout receiver at Saginaw High School and at Michigan State. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft; his career with the Lions lasted just three years.
