Reds Offered Brandon Phillips 4-Year Deal

MLB

The Cincinnati Reds have offered Brandon Phillips a four-year deal, according to a tweet from MLB Network Radio’s, Jim Duquette.

Phillips, 31, will hit the free agent market after this season. There have been talks about a potential contract extension with Cincinnati, however the two sides have not been viewed as being close to a deal. Earlier this week the team signed first baseman Joey Votto to a massive long-term extension.

The two-time All-Star, and three-time Gold Glove winner, played in 150 games last season for the Reds, hitting .300 with 18 home runs, 82 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases. Over the course of his career he has recorded a career average of .272, hit 130 home runs, 524 RBIs, and stole 139 bases.
