Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Josh Beckett may miss his first start, according to a tweet from Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald.
Aceves just told us he was told by Valentine that Beckett has a thumb issue that might require Aceves to start for Beckett in Game 2 #RedSox

#RedSox confirm that Beckett has a thumb issue. He is en route to doc in San Antonio, then to Detroit. BobbyV to explain all at 11 a.m.

It is unclear what the issue with Beckett’s thumb is, however the All-Star hurler has had issues with blisters on his pitching hand throughout his career. He has only pitched 200 innings or more three times in his 11-year career.
Last season, Beckett posted a 13-7 record with a 2.89 ERA. Over the course of his career, he has won 125 games and posted a 3.84 ERA in 1721.2 innings pitched.
