Andy Murray, who won the tournament in 2009, will advance to the final on Sunday because of Nadal’s withdrawal. He will play the winner of Novak Djokovic and Juan Monaco.
According to the Washington Post, Nadal’s knee has bothered him in recent matches; he took a medical timeout during a fourth-round match at Key Miscayne and said afterward he was not at 100%.
