Thunder And PG Derek Fisher Finalizing Deal
Former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Derek Fisher is in Oklahoma City to finalize a deal with the Thunder, according to NBA.com.
Fisher was spotted in Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers World Airport early this morning with Thunder GM Sam Presti and other members of the Thunder front office.
The Lakers traded a first-round draft pick and Fisher to the Houston Rockets for center Jordan Hill. However, before ever stepping on court with his new team, Fisher reached a buyout agreement with the Rockets. As soon as the five-time NBA champion clears waivers, he will be free to sign with any team he wants, except for the Lakers.
With the deal still pending, Oklahoma City must waive a player in order to make room for Fisher on the roster. This season with the Lakers, Fisher was averaging 5.9 points, 3.3 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game.
