Jets Sign Former Redskins S LaRon Landry

The New York Jets signed former Washington Redskins safety LaRon Landry to a one-year $4 million deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Over the last two seasons, Landry was forced to miss 15 games due an Achilles-tendon and a groin injury. He reportedly was told by the Redskins to have surgery to repair the injuries, but he opted for alternative medical treatments instead.

Knowing Landry has not been able to stay healthy, the Redskins did not make a strong push to re-sign him.  However, the Patriots did show some interest in the safety inviting him for a visit last weekend.

The 6-foot, 220-pound safety is a physical tackler that will fill the need to improve the Jets’ run defense.  In his career, he has six forced fumbles and 5½ sacks.
