Dwight Howard Wants To ‘Roll The Dice,’ Stay With Magic This Season

NBA

The NBA trade deadline is now less than 48 hours away, and the Orlando Magic have been frantically searching for a good way to move Dwight Howard. But now their superstar big man has a new request — keep him.

There’s obviously a catch — Howard still isn’t willing to answer the question of what happens in 2012-13, and there’s a good chance he walks away in free agency this summer, leaving the Magic with nothing. Nevertheless, Howard does say he wants to stick it out for the remainder of this season.

The Magic beat the Miami Heat tonight, 104-98 in overtime, to earn their 12th win in 16 games. They’re now sitting pretty at 28-15, solidly entrenched as the third seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, and looking at a potential second-round series against a Heat team they’ve beaten twice in three tries this season.

On the surface, it makes sense for Dwight to persevere with this Magic team. But what happens next is still a mystery.
