Carmelo Anthony Wants D’Antoni Gone

NBA

A source has told the New York Post that Carmelo Anthony no longer wants to play for coach Mike D’Antoni.

“The organization makes believe his opinions don’t matter,” Anthony’s confidant told reporters .  According to the same source, the star forward was told that D’Antoni would not return this season after the Knicks were swept by the Boston Celtics in last year’s playoffs.

As of now, Anthony does not see general manager Glen Grunwald ousting D’Antoni anytime soon due to their close friendship.  Anthony’s confidant went to say that D’Antoni and Grunwald rarely seek Anthony’s input on player personnel unlike the influence of other stars in the league such as Orlando’s Dwight Howard and New Jersey’s Deron Williams.

Currently the Knicks (18-24) are out of playoff contention losing eight of the last ten games.  Anthony has had his struggles  while averaging 21.3 points and shooting just 40 percent from the field.
