Marshawn Lynch Signs Multi-Year Contract With Seahawks
After weeks of negotiation, Marshawn Lynch has agreed to a multi-year contract to remain with the Seattle Seahawks, according to Seahawks.com.
Lynch, obtained in a trade with the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 5, 2010, was impressive in his first full season with the Seahawks in 2011. The 25-year-old running back posted career highs of 1,204 yards and 12 touchdowns, earning only $3 million for his efforts.
The financial specifics of this new deal are yet unknown, but Lynch is owed a huge raise for his efforts.
“We are excited to keep Marshawn as an important part of what we are building,” Seahawks GM John Schneider said. “This is what we were hoping for when we acquired him from Buffalo.”
By signing Lynch this weekend, the team avoids using its franchise tag on the young Pro Bowler. The Seahawks had indicated they were ready to tag Lynch if a deal wasn’t worked out by tomorrow’s deadline.
