Mariners C Jesus Montero leaves debut with injury

Seattle Mariners catcher Jesus Montero was removed from Friday’s Cactus League opener after he was hit in the face with a foul tip, according to MLB.com. There were no further details about the extent of his injury.

Montero had already homered in his first game as a Mariner.

After coming up in the New York Yankee organization, Montero was traded to the Mariners for pitcher Jose Pineda.
