The New York Rangers have backed off in their efforts to trade for Columbus Blue Jackets winger Rick Nash, according to Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet.ca.
#SNtrade. Going into Sunday nite, its sounding like #Rangers have backed out on the Nash sweepstakes. #Bluejackets demands remain too rich.

There were rumors that the Rangers were going to acquire Nash before Monday’s trading deadline after the team traded Wotjek Wolski to the Florida Panthers in order to clear cap space.
Nash, 27, has been the subject of trade rumors ever since he agreed to lift his no-trade clause for a small list of teams. Yesterday, Nash’s agent, Joe Resnick, said he was “hopeful” Columbus could find a “fair and equitable” deal for Nash.
The former first overall pick has 21 goals and 22 assits (43 points) in 62 games for Columbus this season.
