Magic Johnson To Launch TV Network
NBA legend and current ESPN analyst Magic Johnson will launch his own television network, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The network will be named “Aspire” and is described as being a 24-hour channel that will focus on portraying “uplifting images of African Americans.” The network will launch on Comcast, according to the Times.
“This is so exciting for me, I’m pinching myself,” Johnson told the paper in a phone interview. “This is big for myself, for the African American community and the African American creative community. I wanted a vehicle to show positive images and to have stories written, produced and directed by African Americans for our community. Aspire — that’s how I’ve been leading my life.”
Johnson is an NBA Hall of Famer after a storied career with the Los Angeles Lakers. Following his early retirement, Johnson became a successful business mogul in the private sector.
