The Buccaneers had claimed Haynesworth off waivers after playing only six games for the New England Patriots. In his seven games played for Tampa, Haynesworth recorded 25 tackles.
Once recognized as a top defensive tackle during his seven seasons with the Tennessee Titans, Haynesworth’s play began to take a nose dive after he signed a seven-year, $100 million deal with the Washington Redskins in 2009. Ever since, the defensive tackle has struggled to acquire any sort of long-term deal, playing short stints first with the Patriots and now with the Buccaneers.
