NCAA proposes moving kickoffs
The NCAA football rules committee proposed moving kickoffs from the 30 yard line to the 35 to help prevent injuries, according to the Associated Press. The NFL made the change prior to last season and saw a rise in touchbacks.
According to the AP, the NCAA has said that its data suggests that injuries occur on kickoffs more frequently than the other phases of the game. The rule change is designed to curb those injuries.
In order to go into effect, the rule change must be approved by the playing rules oversight committee, which will meet Feb. 21, according to the report.
