Vincent Jackson Likely To Become Free Agent
San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson is expected to become a free agent on March 13, according to NBC Sports.
“I don’t see any way he’s back [in San Diego]. The Chargers won’t franchise him, they’ve come out and said that,” said Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network. “There’s been acrimony between the two sides over the years and there are too many teams that need receiving help… Somebody is going to give him big bucks.”
Considering the contract dispute between Jackson and the Chargers over the past two years, Jackson is likely to move on to another team in need of a receiver such as the St. Louis Rams, San Francisco 49ers, or Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In his career, he has had three 1,000 yard receiving seasons, averaging 17.5 yards every time he catches the ball. Jackson finished the 2011-12 season with 60 catches for 1,106 yards and nine touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl as an alternate for Wes Welker.
