After finishing the 2010 season with the St. Louis Cardinals, Suppan has not appeared in the major leagues since. He signed a minor-league deal with the Giants in January 2011 but was released in March; he caught on with the Kansas City Royals the following month but failed to make the major leagues. He now has a spring training invite and a chance to make the Padres’ big-league roster.
Suppan has appeared with seven teams in his 16 major-league seasons. He has 138 career wins and an ERA of 4.69.
