Rob Gronkowski Officially Listed As Questionable For The Super Bowl
The New England Patriots have officially listed star tight end Rob Gronkowski as questionable for the Super Bowl this Sunday, according to NFL.com.
“He practiced yesterday. He didn’t do anything today,” Patriots head coach Bill Belichick told the media today. “We’ll see where he’s at on Sunday, but hopefully (he’ll play). I saw no setbacks. He’s still making progress.”
Gronkowski’s status has been up in the air since he was helped off the field after an ankle injury in the third quarter against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game. The 22-year-old had to be helped by team trainers as he hopped off the field in pain. The Patriots went on to secure a 23-20 victory over the Ravens, ensuring their fifth Super Bowl appearance since 2001.
The second-year tight end represents one of the Patriots biggest offensive weapons. This season he set an NFL record this season for touchdown receptions at his position. In 16 games he hauled in 90 receptions for 17 touchdowns and 1,327 yards.
