Buffalo Bills Will Switch To 4-3 Defense
The Buffalo Bill’s will switch their 3-4 defensive scheme to a 4-3 formation for the upcoming season, reports Buffalo News.com.
“If you look around the league today people are playing four-man fronts and three-man fronts, they’re playing a little bit of everything,” Coach Chan Gailey commented on the new defense, “We’re going to try and put our guys in position to be successful, whatever that position might be. If it’s odd spacing sometimes or even spacing sometimes.”
This new shift in defensive formation is a result of a 6-10 losing season in 2011. The coaching staff’s hopes are to build a team that stands strong defensively and can compete against the best offenses. Now that the coaching staff has been implemented it is about finding the right personnel for this formation.
The Bills allowed the most points in the AFC this season (434), and the third most last year (425). The club has not had a winning season since 2004.
