Predators’ Ryan Suter Doesn’t Plan To Sign Contract Extension

NHL

Nashville defenseman Ryan Suter has said that he isn’t planning to re-sign with the Predators before the Feb. 27 trade deadline, according to USA Today.

“I don’t see the point of doing it,” Suter said. “It would be a distraction at this point. I will still be with Nashville until July 1, and we could still get something done.”

Suter, 27, has been with the Predators his entire career, ever since they made him the No. 7 overall pick in the 2003 draft. But with this news, it appears that the All-Star defenseman is headed for unrestricted free agency this summer.

Suter has 31 career goals and 161 assists in his NHL career. He was an alternate captain for the United States team that captured silver at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
