Baseball Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson was injured last night when he fell off a stage at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla.
Robinson, who was hoping to attend the annual Joe DiMaggio Legends Game in Fort Lauderdale this weekend, fell off of an elevated stage with three rows of seats during a pregame dinner. Witnesses said he fell more than six feet, according to the Palm Beach Post.
“After all the interviews were done, he leaned back thinking there was a wall behind the curtain, but there was no wall,” witness Johnny Elias told the paper.
“He tumbled backwards and broke something. He could’ve broken his neck. He fell back about six to eight feet. One of my friends who is a doctor went behind there to treat him.”
Robinson reportedly has two fractures in his rear shoulder area, including a broken clavicle. The former Baltimore Oriole turns 75 in May.
